Playing Levels
Understanding the paying levels is very important as customized training and evaluations plans can be designed accordingly. each player has their own method and times to progressively improve and it then becomes important to have individualized coaching plans. The ‘skill’s levels can be broken down as below:
Beginner – There are the ‘newbies’ who are new to the game and have taken it up either as a fitness mantra or trying to pick a new game. For these players the basics of Squash, rules and squash eco-system needs to be familiarized. Techniques of shots should be demonstrated and a lot of hand-holding needs to be done for this level.
Intermediate – These are players who are familiar with the game and have been either following the game and playing the game actively. The players in this level look to caching either to improve stamina, increase fitness, improve their techniques or maybe they have reached a plateau and are looking to get into the next level.
Advanced – These are active players who are participating in competitions and regularly play this game and are keenly following the squash circuit both locally and internationally. The focus of the players in this level are more on the mental fortitude and toughness rather than improving the technique or shot skills, The focus are is more on strategy and getting into a ‘competitive’ mode for professional players.
